Julia Faulkner – Mary
Soprano Julia Faulkner won the 1985 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and made her European stage debut shortly thereafter. She then joined the ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, and between 1991 and 1997, she was in residence at the Vienna State Opera. Ms. Faulkner returned to America in 1994 to make her Metropolitan Opera debut in the title role of Strauss's Arabella and has remained on the Met roster since 1997, participating in the company's tour of Der Rosenkavalier to Japan in 2001 and in a new production of Die Frau Ohne Schatten in 2002. She has performed with the world’s leading orchestras and has recordings on the Deutsche Grammophon, EMI, Phillips, and Naxos labels. Julia Faulkner is Assistant Professor of Voice at UW-Madison and has previously appeared with Madison Opera as Ma in The Tender Land (2008) and Mrs. Grose in The Turn of the Screw (2010).
