The 15th anniversary of Opera in the Park started off quite literally with a bang. Thunderstorms rolled in on Saturday afternoon, forcing us to postpone until Sunday evening. Yet even though Garner Park got soaked, our spirits never dampened. The sun came out on Sunday, shining down on the crowd that came to celebrate with us, and all was well in the operatic universe.
Having to deal with uncertain weather was certainly a challenge, and now we are asking you to join us for another kind of challenge: The Opera in the Park Challenge.
In honor of the 15th anniversary of Opera in the Park, a generous anonymous friend of Madison Opera will match any gift made between now and August 31, 2016, up to $30,000.
Opera in the Park attracts thousands of audience members from across our region and beyond. This diverse audience does not have to pay to enjoy world-class singing, and experiences a sense of community by sharing this live musical event. Ranging in age from toddlers to senior citizens, our audience connects with one another through opera under the Garner Park sky.
Madison Opera is committed to continuing this special evening for decades into the future, but we need your help. While Opera in the Park is free to attend, it requires generous support to produce.
Please consider making an investment in great music for our community by helping us meet The Opera in the Park Challenge.
Gifts of any size are greatly appreciated and all will be doubled. Simply click below to donate online, mail a check to Madison Opera, 335 W. Mifflin Street, Madison, WI 53703, or call us at (608) 238-8085.
