STUDENT MATINEE

Now in its fourth decade, the Student Matinee brings thousands of middle and high school students from across Wisconsin to a Madison Opera performance. The 2025/26 Student Matinee is Così fan tutte on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 in Overture Hall at 11 am.

Così fan tutte lasts approx. 3 hours including one intermission. It is sung in Italian with projected English translations.

Tickets are $5 for students and chaperones. The suggested ratio is at least one chaperone for every 20 students; we will not approve ticket requests for more chaperones than students to ensure that we prioritize seating for students. Limited subsidies are available upon request and are calculated based on the school’s Free & Reduced Lunch Program participation. Tickets are non-refundable.

This production is appropriate for high school and middle school students. Children under the age of 9 will not be admitted.

Seating will be assigned by Madison Opera after the registration period is closed; specific seating areas cannot be guaranteed. Scott Gendel is a composer, pianist, vocal coach, and musical generalist from Wisconsin. He has been commissioned by many singers including Karen Slack and Julia Faulkner, along with ensembles like the Madison Symphony Orchestra and C4: The Choral Composer-Conductor Collective.
