Health and Safety Information

Madison Opera’s top priority is the safety of our audience, artists, technicians, and staff, and so we are following orders from Public Health Madison & Dane County and the protocols put in place by the Overture Center for the Arts.

As of September 2021, that means that all who enter the Overture Center must show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 and wear a face mask while in the building. For details on how to show proof of vaccination, visit the Overture Center website.

Children under the age of 12 who are not currently eligible for vaccination will therefore not be admitted to Madison Opera performances at present. As vaccine eligibility expands to those under 12, we will welcome the return of younger audiences.

If you are unable or unwilling to show proof of vaccination and wear a face mask, we will refund your tickets. Subscription refunds are available through Madison Opera at 608-238-8085; single ticket refunds are available through the Overture Center ticket office at 608-258-4141.

In addition, we ask the following of all Madison Opera audience members:

1. Do not attend a Madison Opera performance or event if you have COVID-19, are experiencing any COVID-19-related symptoms, or have been exposed to COVID-19 in the past 14 days.

· If you are unable to attend a performance for this reason, or because you believe your attendance may endanger your health and safety, we will be happy to issue a refund, as long as you notify Madison Opera prior to the performance. Refunds may take up to a week to process.

2. Attendees understand that there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where people are present. Those purchasing or attending Madison Opera events voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

3. Audience members must follow all health and safety procedures and signage posted while at Opera events. Madison Opera reserves the right to require visitors who do not follow our guidelines to leave an event immediately. Any visitors who are disrespectful or discourteous to other guests, staff, or volunteers may also be asked to leave.

As guidelines evolve, so may rules and protocols. Updated information will be available on this webpage and provided in all pre-show communications to ticketholders.

Please note that all shows will be performed full-length, with intermissions, and houses will be seated at full capacity.

Thank you for your support and flexibility as we work to keep everyone safe and healthy. We look forward to sharing live performances with you!
